Title: 500 kW Solar Interconnection & Primary Metering Integration
Project Detail
Project Location: Aurora, IL
Challenge:
- Integration of a 500-kW solar facility into the client’s distribution network, necessitating precise coordination for primary metering installation, switchgear placement, and conductor deployment.
- Strict compliance with design standards (Asset Suite Hyperion) and real estate constraints including approvals for ROW, easements, and survey scope before construction.
Action:
- Conducted a Pre-Design Field Walkdown with the client to align interconnection requirements and ensure compliance with Asset Suite Hyperion standards.
- Developed a comprehensive distribution design package (DE0014, DE0035, DE0052, DE0072) incorporating primary metering facilities, a 600A normally closed switch, and a normally closed fuse for DER integration.
- Managed Material Requisitions (MRs) in Asset Suite, ensuring efficient procurement with separate MRs for long-lead items to prevent delays.
- Coordinated ROW and Easement approvals, survey scope identification, and preliminary mapping requests to streamline real estate and permitting requirements.
DST Value Addition:
- Delivered a complete interconnection design package, including demarcation drawings and primary meter request forms, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Optimized material procurement and logistics by leveraging Asset Suite-driven MR processes, reducing lead times and enhancing project efficiency.
- Updated TED, Meriden, and Asset Suite with as-built changes post-construction, ensuring accurate record-keeping and seamless system integration.
- Facilitated end-to-end real estate and survey coordination, eliminating approval bottlenecks and accelerating project execution.
